Our Role: Design of personal monogram Identity for the Composer to be used on his stationery and as a credit on all film work.
Richard Ford is a British Composer for Film TV and Multimedia whose visual identity I designed for use on screen credits and personal promotion.
To start Richard sent me some ideas for a direction referencing early brand marks like Dolby Stereo, Miramax Films, and Qube all of which were weighty in terms of type but simple and uncomplicated in form.
The ideation process was very interesting in terms of researching marks to incorporate the letterforms RF. Early versions had me looking at pulling in musical references to incorporate into the mark, negative spaces and reflective forms. Throughout the process, I would shoot off variations to Richard and we would talk about styles and directions. His final choice came when I designed the R and F as reflective forms to work as a stand alone mark and with accompanying text.
