My role: Provide the historical content to appear within the signage scheme, designing and supplying the final graphic panels for inclusion in the sign units.

I am always hopeful when asked to do work in myhome town as it gives me a chance to do a little extra to promote it. This project commissioned by Failte Ireland, the National Tourism Dev. Authority, through Waterford County Council was to design a signage scheme as part of its Heritage Towns project throughout the country.

The brief was to design the graphic panels housed within the heritage style sign units. I was also commissioned to gather and provide the historical content and imagery to appear in the final designs.

This turned out to be a very interesting project, not least, because of what I learned about the towns history, but also because of the stories and information related to me by people I interviewed as part of my research.

The result was 14 graphic panels of historical information and imagery located within sign units at different historical sites around the town for locals and tourists alike to enjoy.
