We were delighted when The Lismore Food Company approached us to design their new website; not only because we love their delicious, fine biscuits – but mostly because we were excited to be working with a young, local and quickly growing business with loads of ambition. With a growing product range and ever-increasing attention from food critics, the media and major retailers it became apparent to The Lismore Food Company that their existing website was not fit for purpose and that a revitalised online presence would need to be crafted.
It was evident from our initial discussions with The Lismore Food Company that the site be dominantly visual and that attractive imagery was very important; such that in only a few short glances it would tell their story and depict the premium product they have become well-recognised for. Additionally, the site needed to encompass the brand’s history, distinct colour palette and unique Irish character.
The first step involved content audit and gathering, which helped to establish a site structure and page hierarchy that would satisfy the target customers’ needs on-site. With closer attention to the users’ experience we insured that strategically placed calls-to-action were present throughout the site as if to hold the users’ hand and lead them through a journey to discover the rich history of The Lismore Food Company, the breadth of their award-winning product offering and ultimately the opportunity to purchase the products if desired.
At a creative level, the site uses the distinct orange brand colour to sporadically highlight important features throughout the site without overpowering the imagery of the product packaging, which proudly dons the same bright orange. We were quite mindful that the imagery needed to showcase the actual biscuits themselves despite the accolades received for the attractive packaging. We’re confident that in addition to being able to recognise the product by it’s packaging on the shelf it’s also important that the consumer is able to see the exposed biscuits and observe the differences apparent amidst each individual flavour. And, with the company’s sights set on international markets this becomes even more important when “biscuits” may be recognised as something different than what we are used to in our local arena.
Our goal was a site of perfect balance between the products rich with premium ingredients including pure Irish butter and the owners lush with deep heritage and local pride. We’re very pleased with the outcome and encourage you to peruse it here.
