Portlaw Heritage Signage

Client: Waterford County Council

http://portlawheritage.blogspot.com

My role: Design and over seeing production of graphic panels for inclusion in the sign units.

I was very glad to work with Bernadette Guest the Waterford County Council Heritage Officer on thisproject designing graphic panels documenting the historic buildings, natural and town heritage of PORTLAW in county Waterford.

As with other projects of this type which I have been fortunate to work on, I end up learning a lot about the history of a town and its people. PORTLAW has the distinction of being one of the few planned industrial towns in Ireland. The layout of the model village, inspired by the Baroque tradition of urban planning, makes it exceptional in the context of Irish urban development, and is well worth a visit.

The signage which is located at key points around the town point out the history of many of the local buildings to the towns people and visiting tourists alike.
